On Sunday, White House coronavirus task force coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx warned that the U.S. is in a “new phase” of its battle against the coronavirus, which is “extraordinarily widespread” in both urban and rural communities. On Monday, President Donald Trump targeted Birx in a tweet, saying she “hit us” following reported criticism from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
