The Oberlin Fire Department worked quickly Sept. 17 to extinguish a fire that damaged the outside of a house.
According to Oberlin fire Chief Robert Hanmer, crews responded at 2:12 p.m. to a home in the 13000 block of Quarry Road in New Russia Township to find that its northwest corner on fire.
Hanmer said a window was being replaced and the fire most likely originated from construction debris.
The fire was isolated to the outside and only caused light smoke damage to the inside.
The home was not occupied at the time of the fire.
Oberlin firefighters left the scene by 4 p.m.
They were assisted by Wellington, South Amherst, Carlisle and Amherst fire departments.
