MOSCOW, January 18. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will hold his annual news conference on Monday, which will for the first time take place online.
The Russian foreign minister usually holds his annual news conference in January to review the country’s diplomatic activities in the past year. Russian diplomats had to limit personal contact with their foreign colleagues in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, many events had to be cancelled or moved online.
The news conference is expected to touch upon various issues, including protests against the outcome of a presidential election in Belarus, the military activities in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, which ended through Russia’s efforts, tensions between Moscow and Washington, as well as the impact of Russian blogger Alexey Navalny’s alleged poisoning on Moscow’s relations with the European Union.
Hundreds of journalists from dozens of countries usually attend Lavrov’s annual news conferences at the Russian Foreign Ministry’s building in Moscow. This year, the event will be held online, making it possible for even more reporters to join it.
