Mask inspectors raided an apartment building in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg on Thursday, Russian State TV reported.
RU-RTR showed footage of inspectors asking residents in the building if they were wearing masks and gloves, something now required in public places as the country continues to battle the coronavirus pandemic.
Those found not wearing the protective equipment could face fines which can reach up to 40,000 Russian rubles (526 US dollars).
Controllers are carrying out these raids in all public places across Moscow and other regions.
Russia has been swept by a fall resurgence of the virus. The numbers of confirmed cases and deaths are hitting new highs almost daily and significantly exceeding the levels reported during the country’s spring outbreak.
Officials reported 27,543 new confirmed cases on Friday, over 2,000 more than the previous day.
