Russian private healthcare provider MD Medical Group has inaugurated a new surgery centre – the second stage of its Rub3.9bn (US$51.9m) multi-disciplinary hospital Lapino in Moscow.
Construction began in May 2018 for what is one of the largest projects in the healthcare sector commissioned in Russia.
“The launch of the Lapino-2 surgery centre constitutes an important step in the development of the company,” said chief executive Mark Kurtser.
“The Lapino hospital has been operating successfully for many years and acquired in the course of time the confidence and gratitude of thousands of patients. Today it rises to a new level in providing planned and emergency medical help,” he added.
The new six-storey surgery building has an area of 18,500 square metres. Lapino-2 is expected to carry out 12,000 operations, about 40,000 in-patient days and more than 180,000 out-patient treatments per year.
The new centre includes departments for cardiovascular surgery, stomatology, including oral and maxillofacial surgery, a diagnostic department, a haemodialysis department, an intensive care unit with 13 beds, six operating theatres for planned surgeries and two for emergency surgeries.
