Saudi Arabian fish farmers eye Russian market after export deal

  • September 15, 2020

An export deal that Saudi Arabia signed with the Russian government on Oct. 14, 2019, will allow the former’s fish farming companies to export up to 15,000 metric tons of seafood to the latter annually, Gulf News reported.

The news site, citing local media reports, said that three Saudia Arabian aquaculture companies, which it did not name, have been given permission to sell to the Russian market.

The deal, which also involved Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, could see Saudia Arabian seafood exports increase to SAR 293 million ($78m) annually.

One of the trade deal’s main goals is to increase the volume of agricultural and food goods traded between Saudi Arabia and Russia by 2024.
